A Reflection on Kids Matter

During the spring, St Stephen’s Church hosted Kids Matter. Kids Matter is a programme for any parent or carer who wants the best for their child(ren) and is looking for a safe place to talk through some of the highs, lows and everything in between. Debbie, a mother of two young children, took part and wrote the following:

“As a mother of two young children and with a hectic daily routine, I am always open to suggestions to make life a little easier.

After being approached by Joanna at our toddler group, I decided that I would take on the eight-week course. This was made possible by the fantastic help and support of the volunteers at the church.

The course is delivered in a casual setting yet was really informative. Joanna really makes everyone feel very welcome. She is a true people person, who makes people feel safe and when you give her feedback via questions on the course, she is non-judgemental. The course can be emotional and soul searching but you’re not alone in your experiences.

The workbooks are very easy to use and the questions help you with alternative ways to deal with situations. You also get to keep the books. Even after a few weeks of finishing the course, I do review some of the great tips I got.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this course to parents and carers regardless of age. Thank you to Tanya and Joanna for giving me this experience.”

We will be running Kids Matter again in the autumn. There will be a taster session on 19th October and the programme will run on a weekly basis from 2nd November. Please get in touch if you would like to reserve your place or find out more information.
